So as a result of the upset of Sport Chek FC at the hands of Ruscio Sault Fire 2-1 this past Sunday, the meeting of Croatia and Sport Chek FC set to occur on the Friday (coincidently the 13th) will be the 2nd grudge match of the year where first place is on the line. In the standings Croatia now stands on top of the leader board at 25 points however Sport Chek FC has 22 points with a game in hand. That means with a win Sport Chek FC can regain first place by tying Croatia in points and having won the head to head match up. This should be an action packed game as both teams with the highest and second highest Goals for (Croatia 39/Sport Check FC 40) and the lowest and third lowest Goals Against (Sport Check 8/Croatia 13) will be on the field. There are no suspensions pending so we will get to see the high powered offense and in addition we will get to see Scott Magic go up against Jeremy MacIsaac in goal which may be the story of the game. Both goaltenders have loads of experience being in these situations and likely the big stops in the game will be the difference in the score sheet when all is said and done.
On field 2 at the same time, coming off an impressive win vs the undefeated Sport Chek FC, fourth place Ruscio Sault Fire will be taking third place PSC. Although PSC holds a 5 point advantage currently in the standings over the fire, the last time these 2 teams met it ended in a tie. Since PSC is currently tied at 22 points with Sport Chek there could technically be a 3 way point tie for first place if PSC can manage a win and Sport Chek can defeat Croatia. However the well balanced Sault Fire played an very sound game last Sunday on both offense and defense and with some tremendous saves in the back from Aaron Grawbarger it will not be a cake walk for the diverse offense of PSC which includes Joe Medglia, Tim Berkenbosch, Alex Fera, Justin Montanini just to mention a few.......
With so much on the line all happening at 8pm it should be a lot of fun to be there.....Games both start Friday the 13th at 8pm.....bring your fire extinguisher because it should be a barnburner.
